First of all, on behalf of the committee I would like to say Happy New Year to all our members. We hope you’ve all had lots of fun over the festive period.
After all the excitement of Christmas it’s already time for another WMES talk, delivered by Marsia Bealby. This month we will be taking a look at Egyptian-Aegean relations between 1900 and 1400 BC. Marsia will give an overview of how Egypt interacted with Crete and some fo the Agean islands (Thera, Kythera etc) focusing on two case studies: the Agean presence in Avaris (Tall el-Dab’a) with emphasis on the Avaris frescoes; and the Agean processional scenes in the tombs of noble people in Thebes.
For more information on the topic and Marsia herself, see our events page.
We are still using the Pen Museum as the venue. If you need directions, the address is on the poster below and there is a map on our first post dated October 2014.
On the door prices are the same; £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for concessions (students, disabled and unwaged with proof).
Looking forward to seeing you all next week.
